At Flower Dental, we love taking care of your children.  We believe that a partnership with you and your child is the best way to maintain good oral health and to avoid cavities, disease and injuries for your child. We are committed to keeping your child’s smile healthy, beautiful and pain free!

If your child develops a problem with their teeth or gums at any age, please schedule an appointment immediately.  Although baby teeth aren’t permanent, they can cause life-long damage to your child’s smile.

Happy Visit / 1st Checkup We encourage parents to bring their one and two-year olds to the office for a “Happy Visit”. This checkup lets your child get familiar with the sights, sounds, and friendly helpers in our office. We show them around the office and help them feel comfortable with the equipment we use.

Your 3-Year Old This is the age when we normally begin our regular care for your child’s dental needs. Dr. Flower will check for proper development, as well as tooth decay and other areas of concern. We will do a tooth-by-tooth inspection and periodontal exam.

As Your Child Grows He or she will need regular checkups and hygiene visits to keep their smile healthy and decay-free. We teach your child how to brush and floss properly, with your help at first, then on his or her own. Dr. Flower may recommend dental sealants or fluoride supplements to prevent cavities.

• Sealants: Thin, clear coatings that protect hard-to-clean back teeth from the sugars that cause tooth decay.
• Fluoride: Attracts other minerals to strengthen tooth enamel and ward off cavities. Because most bottled water does not contain fluoride, your child (and you) may be deficient in this essential mineral.
