Assistant at Flower Dental explaining brushing to patient

You only get one set of permanent teeth.  At Flower Dental, we want to do everything we can to help you keep them for a lifetime.  Helping you maintain the highest standard of oral health while avoid dental expenses is a goal that we take very seriously.  We believe that a partnership between you and our team pays big dividends by protecting your smile now and well into the future.

What We Can Do

Regular dental exams and cleanings are vital in preventing the development and advancement of decay and gum disease.  During your oral health visit, our hygienist does a lot more than just clean your teeth. She performs multiple assessments of your oral and overall health.  For example, she will do a scan for oral cancer, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA),

What You Can Do

At home, prevention includes brushing at least twice a day and flossing daily.  But many oral health aids exist that may fit your situation even better. Often patients are surprised to learn that a particular toothpaste, rinse, or specialized toothpick will serve them well and make all the difference in their efforts. Our team can help customize solutions that enhance your daily efforts, often turning frustration into smiles at the healthy changes that occur.

Your diet also plays a critical role in your oral health.  Snacking throughout the day can contribute to problems such as decay.  While acidic foods and drinks can accelerate deterioration of your teeth, and certain foods can enhance the health of your supporting jawbone and gums.

With a proactive approach, together we can prevent minor issues from becoming major procedures.

Oral Hygiene Visits

Your oral health visit involves a lot more than just a cleaning.  Our registered dental hygienist can remove plaque and bacterial deposits before they develop into periodontal disease or contribute to decay.  We check your condition so that we can alert you to any problems before they worsen.  Plus, we monitor critical factors in your oral and overall health, such as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Digital X-rays

Dental Sealants

Deep crevices run across the chewing surface of molars. Even though a toothbrush can skim across these surfaces, the narrow grooves trap bacteria beyond the bristles. Cavities may form and end up abscessing without warning, destroying valuable tooth structure. Protecting the grooves with a bonded sealer might be worth exploring.

Fluoride Treatment

We encourage fluoride treatment at each oral health visit with the hygienist.  With increased use of fluoride during the past few decades, the enamel on our teeth is stronger than ever. As a result, we are less likely to develop cavities than our grandparents were.

 Teeth Cleaning

Everyone loves the smooth, glassy surface of freshly polished teeth. Our registered dental hygienists help you maintain optimal health, which goes far beyond polished enamel. With a regular preventive schedule, we can remove the bacterial deposits that lead to dental disease. But we can also monitor for silent problems, such as tooth decay or gum disease before they become major issues.

Oral Cancer Screening

Every time you’re in our chair, we review many aspects of your health. Subtle changes in the lining of your mouth call for a closer evaluation, regardless of whether you use tobacco or not. Early detection of oral cancer saves many lives every year, and we’re trained to recognize a myriad of oral tissue abnormalities.

We also offer an extra type of oral cancer screening.
