Tooth-Colored Fillings Carrollton

Treat Cavities Without Highlighting Them

When a tooth is damaged by decay, cracks or fractures, Dr. Jordan can use natural-colored composite filling material to repair the damaged areas. Composite (tooth-colored) fillings stop the damage and can leave the tooth looking better than ever.

Reasons for composite fillings:

  • Chipped teeth
  • Closing space between two teeth
  • Cracked or broken teeth
  • Decayed teeth
  • Worn teeth

Placing a Composite Filling

Dr. Jordan begins by gently removing any decay or affected portion of the tooth. He then creates a mixture of liquid resin and finely ground glass particles that match the shade of the tooth. He molds the composite against the remaining tooth structure and applies a blue light to the composite to create a firm set within seconds. He finishes by shaping and polishing the tooth to produce a high shine that reflects the beauty of natural enamel. The resultant restoration is strong, smooth and invisible while it also stops the progression of the decay and destruction of healthy tooth material.

It is normal to experience sensitivity to hold and cold immediately after composite fillings are placed. However, you should not notice this after your tooth gets accustomed to the new fillings. Good oral hygiene practices, eating habits and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new fillings. As with most dental restorations, composite fillings are not permanent and may someday have to be replaced. However, they are very durable and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
